GALLIPOLIS RIVER RECREATION PAGEANTS

This pageant is held in conjunction with the Ms., Miss, and Young Miss Pageants. To be eligible for this title, you must enter the Gallipolis River Rec Pageant and participate in the additional category of a 30 seconds or less On-Stage Oral Presentation on your choice of one of the following topics:

     - What freedom means to me

     - Why I love America


Everyone is eligible for the Gallipolis River Rec titles, but only those doing the additional Oral Presentation Competition are eligible for the 250th Quartermillenial Queen title. A contestant may compete for both titles but can only win one title.  


Young Miss Gallipolis River Rec - Grades 6-8

Miss Gallipolis River Rec - Grades 9 - 12

Ms., high school graduates to no age limit


Contestants will compete according to the grade you are in as of May 1 of the competition year.

PAGEANT DAY SCHEDULE

Young Miss Personal Interviews - 9:00am

Miss Personal Interviews - 9:30am

Ms. Personal Interviews - 10:00am


Community Queens Dinner, 3:30pm, hosted by our current Miss and Young Miss River Rec


Pageant begins at 6:00pm


After personal interviews, contestants may leave the venue to have hair/makeup done. 


Rehearsals and personal interviews are closed to the public. We will have female staffers assisting contestants to change into outfits during the pageants. Only contestants are allowed in the dressing rooms and on stage.


Contestants should be dressed in their opening number outfit by 5:00pm as there will be one last rehearsal on stage, prior to opening the doors to the public.


Doors open to the public at 5:30pm


Pageants begin at 6:00pm



CONTESTANT MANDATORY INFORMATIONAL MEETING

The contestant mandatory informational meeting will be Monday, May 11, 6:00pm at the Ariel, 3rd Floor. (When entering from the front entrance, follow the hallway to the steps or elevator on the right and take to 3rd floor. Please let the director know which date you will be attending. An interview practice will follow registration.


Contestants must attend interview rehearsals on the following Mondays: May 11, May 18 and June 1, unless excused.


ALL contestants MUST attend the final stage rehearsal on Thursday, June 11.



COSTS

There is a $50 sponsorship fee for contestants which includes their opening number t-shirt. A list of those sponsoring each contestant will be read by our emcee during the live pageant. Please bring your sponsorship fee to the first rehearsal on May 11. Cash only, please. The name(s) of your sponsors should be listed on your emcee form that will be used during the live pageant.


Guests will need to purchase admission tickets. Tickets will be available starting May 1.



CONTESTANTS WILL COMPETE IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

     - Personal Interview

     - Self Introduction (done in pageant t-shirt and jeans)

     - Red/White/Blue or a Patriotic Outfit Modeling

     - Formal Wear

         - Young Miss contestants may we are knee-length or floor length dress

         - Miss and Ms. contestants should wear a floor length dress


Contestants will give their Personal Introduction in their official t shirt and nice jeans.  Shirts will be given to the contestants on pageant day.


Additional t-shirts can be ordered for family & friends for $20 each.  XXL and larger sizes will be $25 each.  You can order these on the contestant's entry form below.



AWARDS

  • Based on the number of contestants in each pageant, we will award a queen, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up.  Depending on the number of contestants, runners up will be determined the day of the pageant, as voted on by the contestants.
  • The Miss Queen will receive a sash, crown, trophy, and college sponsorship, as long as it is offered by URG. The Ms., and Young Miss will receive a sash, crown, and trophy.
  • Runners up will receive a sash, tiara, and trophy.
  • All contestants will receive a custom award.
  • Miss Congeniality will receive a custom award.
  • The contestant selling the most admission tickets will receive the Fan Favorite Award.
  • People's Choice Winner, the person with the most donations.  Donations help to cover the cost of the event.



APPEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

The Queen in each pageant is required to attend the upcoming Gallipolis River Recreation Festival and to be in the parade. Her court may ride with her in the parade.  A float will be provided for the GRRF parade. Her court is required to attend the festival and be in the parade.  Queens are required to crown their successors at the next year's pageant. Court members are encouraged to attend the new year's pageant and help with crowning. Queens are required to attend at least 2 of the rehearsals for the next year's pageant to learn the opening dance number.  If court members want to be in the opening dance number, they are required to attend two practices, as well.


Queens and court members should wear a church-style dress, jump suit, or cocktail dress and her crown and sash for the parade and appearances at the festival. Outfits should be age appropriate.


Queens may attend other events or parades and are responsible for arranging her own transportation and schedule.


Court members may attend other events as they choose and are responsible for arranging her own transportation and schedule. 



REGULATIONS

- Contestants should be in good moral standing. 

- Contestants should be professional and courteous at all times.

- Contestants should be and have always been a female.

- Contestants may not be or ever have been married, excluding the

   Ms. contestants.

- Contestants may not be or ever have been pregnant, excluding the

  Ms. contestants.

- Contestants may not have any substance abuse or be involved in

  or found guilty of any criminal activity.

- Contestants must be accompanied by an adult to all

  events, excluding the Ms. contestants.

- Guests attending events with all winners should be professional

  and courteous at all times.    

- Contestants must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Gallia County Resident
  • Attend college in Gallia County
  • Work in Gallia County
  • Miss and Young Miss contestants) (Have one or more parent/guardian who lives or works in Gallia County
  • Ms. contestants may own property in Gallia County

- Winners are chosen based on their own merit and scores.

- Judges will be out of county judges.

- Scores will be tabulated by qualified officials.

- Scores will not be given out.

- Copies of the scores will be in a sealed envelope and stored at

  the pageant office.

- The pageant director or staff members reserve the right to

  monitor all winners/runners up social media accounts to ensure

  they are in good moral standing.

Pre-sale tickets must be purchased from the Ariel Opera House. Space is limited. If space is available on the day of the pageants, you may purchase them at the Ariel's ticket box office.
